Situated along the coast in Cape Elizabeth, historic Fort Williams is home to the oldest lighthouse in Maine -- the Portland Head Light. The lighthouse was first illuminated in 1791 and has since stood at the gateway to Portland Harbor. Take photos here.
Next, hop aboard a boat to cruise past the secluded islands and historic forts dotting Casco Bay. You'll also see Portland's bustling waterfront and the Portland Head Light from the water.
Your knowledgeable guide will explain how the British raided Portland at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War, and how oil and tourism have shaped this port city.
Your tour concludes at Long Wharf in the heart of Portland's Old Port area. Make your own way back to the ship from here.
