Enjoy the city of Philadelphia through the window of your comfortable motorcoach. A glimpse of its important and integral history is yours on a panoramic drive through the Old Town. You’ll see Independence Hall, where America was founded and where the Constitution was drafted. View the Liberty Bell pavilion and hear the story of Betsy Ross -- the woman who crafted the first American flag at the behest of George Washington. You will see her home, built in the 1700s.
A drive down Elfreth’s Alley showcases the first continuously inhabited residential Street of the Thirteen Colonies. Today, it protects a huddle of 18th-century dwellings. Watch for the gravesite of Benjamin Franklin. Ironically, although this genius encouraged others to save a penny, his gravesite is usually covered in coins.
Next, pass through modern Philly and watch for the stunning architecture of City Hall. You will also spot the famous LOVE statue symbolizing the City of Brotherly Love.
You have a chance to leave the coach at the Rocky Steps. These are named for the character played by Sylvester Stallone in the Rocky movies. Climb all 72 of them to reach the top for spectacular views of Philadelphia. Take a selfie with the Rocky statue (time permitting).
Notes:
Tour consists mainly of sightseeing from the transportation. Stops are brief, and participants can remain on the vehicle; those wishing to climb the Rocky Steps will have time to do so. This tour is a great option for guests with limited mobility. Wear comfortable shoes. Expect long lines at the Rocky statue; a photo may not be possible.
