Step into movie history on Martha’s Vineyard with our unforgettable JAWS Filming Locations Bus Tour, where guests explore the real-life “Amity Island.” Filmed on Martha’s Vineyard in 1974, Jaws became one of the most iconic thrillers ever made—and this tour takes you directly to the locations where the legendary scenes were filmed.
Your journey begins in charming Edgartown, the town that transformed into Amity’s bustling downtown.
Here you’ll see where the town council debates closing the beaches and where Chief Brody confronts the mayor near the Chappy Ferry. From there, we head to the famous American Legion Memorial Bridge (JAWS Bridge), where the shark glides beneath Brody’s son in one of the film’s most suspenseful scenes.
Today, it’s a beloved local landmark where visitors still leap into the water—just like the cast and crew did between takes. Along the scenic shoreline of Joseph Sylvia State Beach, you’ll stand where the unforgettable Alex Kintner attack was filmed, a pivotal moment that launches the hunt for the great white.
Guests may even hear behind-the-scenes stories about how the mechanical shark repeatedly malfunctioned during filming, forcing director Steven Spielberg to improvise—and ultimately making the film even more suspenseful.
In Oak Bluffs, we pass the police station connected to local actor Chief Searle, who appeared as a child in the famous “fake shark fin panic” beach scene. From there, the tour continues past the Brody family home along East Chop Drive, offering a respectful glimpse of the house where one of the film’s most heartwarming scenes between Chief Brody and his son was filmed.
As we drive through the island’s peaceful backroads, including Lambert’s Cove—we’ll share stories about the Vineyard itself, from celebrity visitors like Carly Simon and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to beloved local traditions that make the island unique. The tour concludes in picturesque Menemsha, where Quint launched the Orca on its final hunt.
While the movie set has long since disappeared, the harbor looks almost exactly as it did on screen—making it the perfect place to imagine Brody, Hooper, and Quint heading out to sea.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan of JAWS or simply looking for a fun and unique way to experience Martha’s Vineyard, this tour blends movie history, island culture, and stunning coastal scenery into one unforgettable adventure.
