With mansions representing more than 250 years of social and architectural history, this tour combines all the highlights of scenic Newport with a visit to one of the Grand Mansions that defined the era known as the "Gilded Age."
Passing through the historic colonial section of Newport, a panoramic sightseeing drive takes you along the world-famous Ocean Drive for spectacular views of Newport's rocky coastline.
On Bellevue Avenue, immerse yourself in a world of wealth and power as it existed at the dawn of the 20th century. Visit one of the enormous "summer cottages" for which Newport is famous. You'll tour either The Elms or Rosecliff, each representing the height of conspicuous consumption and grand entertaining by America's haves and have-mores. Picture a fabulous party in a magnificent ballroom, or perhaps a fairytale dinner as your tour guide offers insights into the life of this fascinating time in American history.

Wheelchair accessibility at Rosecliff is via an elevator with these dimensions: width 34.5", depth 47.4", and height 81". The Elms is not wheelchair accessible. Due to their popularity, there may be a short wait to enter one of these Newport mansions. Interior photography is permitted; however, use of selfie sticks and tripods is not allowed. Mansion tours at The Elms and Rosecliff are self-guided audio tours using the Newport Mansions App. Participants must bring their own smart device with earbuds and download the Newport Mansions App. You are encouraged to download the app prior to arrival at the mansions. The self-guided audio tour via an app is available in English, French, Spanish, German and Mandarin. Additional house information, floor plans, historical photos and other information are also available on the app. Printed house narratives are available at the front door of each mansion.
