This walking tour is a window on the evolution of the village of Havre-Saint-Pierre, founded in 1857 by six families from Les îles-de-la-Madeleine. For many years, fishing, hunting and lumber were the main industries of the village, but today, mining surpasses them all.
Discover the history of the Cayens -- those proud of their Acadian heritage -- and visit Chez Julie. This restaurant offers a taste of delicious cloudberry pie -- a traditional regional dessert. There's also time for a local gin tasting at Bar l'Écoutille, where you'll learn how creative residents distill great gins in the depths of the far-north winter.
Journey not only into the local lifestyle but into the town's historical and economic background as well.
