Explore the island where Franklin D. Roosevelt and his family spent more than fifty years vacationing, now known as Roosevelt Campobello International Park. A partnership between Canada and the United States, the park is jointly administered, staffed, and funded by the two governments.
Begin your outing with a transfer by lobster boat between Eastport and Lubec, Maine. There, you hop into a small vehicle and cross into Canada to reach Campobello Island. Learn about the island's history, early settlements, and the events leading up to the establishment of Roosevelt Campobello International Park.
Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt's magnificent 34-room summer home has been preserved as it was in 1920. Join a docent for a guided tour of both floors of this memorabilia-filled cottage. You'll also have time to explore some of the other buildings and grounds on your own.
Continue to Mulholland Point Light -- the only lighthouse shared by Canada and the United States -- with a view of the narrows looking out towards Lubec. From the Friars Head viewpoint, take in vistas from high above the bay towards Eastport.
Enjoy your time on the island touring the Visitor Center, Roosevelt Cottage and the beautiful flower garden and admiring the 2,800 acres of natural preserve.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour sequence may vary. Campobello cannot be visited directly from Canada; your visit must originate from the USA. Bring your passport; it is required to visit Canada, and a multi-visit visa for Canada may be required based on your passport since the ship's itinerary includes Canada. Please visit this link to confirm entry requirements into Canada.
