This lobster and seal cruise has you boarding a genuine Maine lobster boat.
Your time on the water includes a demonstration of lobstering -- the primary activity of Maine's commercial fisheries. Pull some lobster traps in the waters of Passamaquoddy Bay under the supervision of a licensed lobster fisherman. You'll see, touch and handle lobsters, crabs, starfish, scallops, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers that come up in the traps.
Keep an eye out for porpoises, whales, bald eagles, osprey, seals and other marine life, all of which make the bay their home.
A bonus is experiencing the 26+-foot tidal swing and traveling through the Old Sow Whirlpool -- the Western Hemisphere's largest whirlpool. Your skipper is happy to share many a briny tale.
Notes:
Bring binoculars and a snack. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Dress warmly in layers with a wind- and waterproof outer layer. Tour duration may vary. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
