Admire the lovely coastal scenery as you set off by boat around the Îles de la Madeleine archipelago.
You'll travel along the coastline to admire the fascinating red cliffs as your guide explains the processes that have shaped them. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife sightings and identify the various species of bird that have made the islands their home.
Lobster fishing has been an important local industry since 1875; see how a lobster trap is set and learn how fishing is regulated and protected for future generations.
You'll skirt past tiny, treeless Entry Island -- home to around 80 people mainly of Scottish descent. This is the only inhabited island not connected to the rest of the Îles de la Madeleine.
Notes:
Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm of Cap-aux-Meules. Transportation is by school bus; participants must be able to climb steep steps to (dis)embark the bus. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Guests will be required to walk approximately 200 yards to the boat over some uneven ground. A degree of agility is required when boarding the boat. The boat tour duration is approximately 1.25 hours.
