Experience the natural beauty and laid-back charm of Magnetic Island at your own pace. Just a short ferry ride from Townsville, this tropical island paradise offers a perfect blend of pristine beaches, native wildlife, scenic lookouts, and relaxed island living.
Begin your day with a transfer from the Townsville Cruise Terminal to the Breakwater Ferry Terminal, where you’ll board the ferry to Magnetic Island. During the short 20-minute crossing, enjoy stunning views of Cleveland Bay and Castle Hill as you approach this picturesque island getaway.
Upon arrival, the day is yours to explore as you wish. Discover walking trails through eucalypt forests where koalas are often spotted in the wild, visit the historic Forts Walk for panoramic coastal views, or relax on one of the island’s golden beaches such as Horseshoe Bay or Alma Bay. Stroll through local boutiques, enjoy lunch at a beachfront café, or simply unwind and take in the island’s peaceful atmosphere.
At the end of your self-guided adventure, return to the Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal for your scheduled ferry back to Townsville. A transfer will be waiting to take you back to the Cruise Terminal in time for your ship’s departure.

This tour is unguided. Guests must travel on the ferries at times specified. If guests choose to swim, they must do so at a patrolled beach and in-between the surf life saving flags. Swimming and any other option activities undertaken while on the Island is at their own risk.
