A Heart for Community:
Connect with the heart and soul of a vibrant community. Whether you're meeting friendly locals, encountering heirloom cultures, engaging with Native peoples, exploring hidden corners, or discovering beloved eateries, let lasting memories begin with warmth, hospitality, and genuine connection.
Explore the heart of Tauranga as you step into a world of cultural riches and natural beauty.
A walking tour takes you around the iconic slopes of Mount Maunganui (Mauao), where panoramic views encompass a vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Explore the trails, feel the textures of the land beneath your feet, and breathe in the fresh coastal air that invigorates your senses. Along the way, keep an eye out for native birds, adding to the richness of your adventure.
Engage in a hands-on workshop, working with natural materials such as flax and plant-based medicines. This tactile experience connects you to Maori tradition and leaves you with a deeper appreciation of their artistry and skill.
Notes:
Tour requires walking approximately 2.2 miles. Terrain includes inclines, gravel trails, uneven surfaces, and about 20 steps. Participants must be physically fit. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. There may be an opportunity to swim at the falls. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat.
