Our guided tour takes you across the Canterbury plains, an area known for cropping and seed production. We pass by a varied mix of farm animals, such as sheep, cattle and red deer.
The first stop is the wonderful little town of Geraldine, well known for its galleries, military museum and vibrant main street. There is time to shop, explore the galleries or perhaps just relax in one of the cafes.
You will then explore further inland, with a short walk option at the beautiful Peel Forest Native park. Giant 1000 year old trees are a real highlight.
Travelling a little further inland takes us to the grandeur of the Rangitata River Valley and, a glacial carved valley in the High Country. There is time for photos and a chance to take in this area with its views of the Southern Alps.
A light lunch is provided in Geraldine before a sheep shearing demonstration by a world class blade shearing champion, a local to the area. Complimentary drinks are provided before the short trip to return to Timaru port.
