Head across the Canterbury plains -- an area known for cropping and seed production as well as sheep, cattle, and red deer farming.
Pause in the wonderful little town of Geraldine, well known for its galleries, military museum, and vibrant main street. Shop, explore the galleries, relax in one of the cafés (at your own expense).
Explore further inland with a short walk at the beautiful Peel Forest Native Park among giant thousand-year-old trees.
In the Rangitata River Valley -- a glacier-carved valley in the High Country -- there is time for photos and to take in views of the Southern Alps.
