Experience contemporary Aboriginal society right in the heart of cosmopolitan Sydney. This leisurely walkabout in The Rocks district -- Sydney’s Old Town area -- uncovers the authentic history of the Aboriginal people’s saltwater heritage within Sydney Harbour, their land and water use, and their spiritual connection to the adjoining waterways and foreshores.
Your Aboriginal guides will demonstrate how Sydney continues to weave the Dreamtime Southern X text into its modern, built-up environment. What is the Dreamtime? It’s the foundation of Aboriginal religion and culture -- a concept very new to non-Aboriginals but rooted in thousands of years of history and culture for its people. Drawing upon knowledge passed down from some of the earliest ecologists, conservationists, wildlife carers, botanists, astronomers, climatologists and marine biologists on the Earth, your guide will explain it and relate it to how all this ancient wisdom continues to reveal itself within the English settlement of The Rocks.
