A 30-minute ferry transfer brings you to Rottnest Island, known for its beautiful beaches. However, Rottnest is perhaps even more famous for its curious furry little inhabitant -- the quokka. This small, endemic macropod loosely resembles a miniature kangaroo with a shorter tail. It is the size of a cat and is generally nocturnal.
Begin your day with some free time to explore before heading to the settlement train station for a unique historic train ride to Oliver Hill.
Enjoy a light sandwich lunch at Oliver Hill. Walk through the small settlement here and watch quokkas in their natural habitat. You'll also learn how this iconic marsupial gave Rottnest Island its name. A 90-minute panoramic drive takes in some of Rottnest's most spectacular locations -- your chance to experience the island's diverse flora, fauna, history and culture.
Enjoy some free time afterward for independent exploration.
