Discover the special qualities of Tonga and its nature at the magnificent Oholei Beach Resort.
A panoramic drive through Nuku'alofa takes you along the western side of Tongatapu to see the Chief's Whistles — widely considered the most spectacular blowholes in the entire South Pacific.
At Oholei Resort, witness the traditional opening of the umu — the traditional Tongan underground oven — and a coconut-husking demonstration. You will be warmly welcomed to a buffet lunch of roasted suckling pig on a spit, as well as local cuisine and fresh seasonal fruits.
Watch traditional Tongan dances — a customary island entertainment.
You'll have approximately 30 minutes to take the steps down to the beach and peek into Hina Cave if you wish.
Notes:
Transportation is a basic island bus with no air-conditioning or PA system. The path the beach and cave is via the 60 steps, suitable only for physically fit visitors. The restrooms are basic. Wear suitable walking shoes. Bring insect repellent and bottled water with you. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. Wear aqua shoes. The beach is not suitable for swimming at low tide due to rocks and coral. Tour does not operate on Sundays.
