Hike through original old-growth forest in the company of a local guide. Your guide will show you some of the oldest trees on the island, and you will learn about the endemic plants and their use during past and present times in Melanesian culture.
Take photos of the seaside cliffs along the way and enjoy some refreshments afterward.
Notes:
Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking. Terrain includes inclines, unpaved and rough walking tracks, and many steps. Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered; short shorts and swimwear are not allowed. It is important to ask permission before taking an individual’s photograph. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. The transportation is not air-conditioned or equipped with a PA system. Local escorts and students will act as guides. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here, and you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up. Restroom facilities are rustic. Large groups will be split into several smaller groups, with the guide traveling on the largest vehicle and offering narration for everyone at the various points of interest. The drivers of the smaller vehicles often do not speak English but will do their best to point out the highlights for you.
