Start with the famous Iao Valley, recognized as a very special place for both its spiritual value and spectacular scenery. Designated a National Natural Landmark in 1972, it is a Historic State Park and home to the iconic Iao Needle.
The Kula Botanical Garden, on the slopes of Haleakala, encompasses eight acres of colorful plants, amazing rock formations, a covered bridge, waterfalls, a koi pond, an aviary with native nene geese, and a tiki exhibit.
Enjoy a picnic-style lunch in this spectacular outdoor setting with amazing views.
Next, you’ll head to the charming Goat Dairy for a relaxed walking tour of this lively farm. Along the way, you’ll meet the friendly goats—from the milking moms and their playful babies to the resident buck—and you might even be greeted by the farm’s herd dog or barn cats.
You’ll learn about the art of cheese making and hear the story of how the dairy began on Maui, with plenty of great spots for photos throughout your visit. Guests are welcome to interact with and feed the goats, explore the milking area, and peek inside the dairy to see each step of the cheese-making process.
Your tour wraps up with a tasting of fresh goat cheese, followed by your choice of a handmade goat-cheese truffle for a sweet finish. If you’d like to linger a little longer, you can also enjoy their award-winning Surfing Goat Dairy cheese flight—featuring a selection of fresh and aged cheeses—for a delicious way to complete your experience.
