Travel northwest of Hobart through the Derwent Valley. You'll follow the Derwent River to Mt Field National Park -- one of the state's oldest National Parks. Rugged mountain ranges, majestic trees, cascading falls, alpine plants and wildlife can all be found here -- the full gamut of the wild Tasmanian bush.
You will walk to the magnificent Russell Falls as you explore the park, passing stands of tall trees and fern glades along the way. Take time to bask in the peace and tranquility of the ancient forest.
At Meadowbank Estate Farm (or similar), you will have the opportunity to sample the fine wines of the region, learn about a functioning sheep station and enjoy a lovely lunch accompanied by a glass of wine.
Head to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary for the chance to feed the wallabies and see the infamous Tasmanian devil along with the park's other resident critters.
Notes:
Not advisable for guests using wheelchair. Minimum age to participate in wine tasting is 18 years accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.
