A Heart for Community
Connect with the heart and soul of a vibrant community. Whether you're meeting friendly locals, encountering heirloom cultures, engaging with Native peoples, exploring hidden corners, or discovering beloved eateries, let lasting memories begin with warmth, hospitality, and genuine connection.
Visit Kameruka Estate, established in 1834 and one of the first European settlements in the Bega Valley.
Its founders, the Tooth family, of brewing fame, developed a community modeled on an English-style estate covering tens of thousands of acres.
Today, Kameruka is a working sheep and cattle station. Watch the farm's resident sheepdog round up a flock of sheep, and watch a sheep-shearing demonstration in the original shearing shed.
Visit the Holy Trinity Church, established in 1869, to see the cemetery and war memorial dedicated to local soldiers who died in the World Wars.
Doolin's Stone, built in 1908, was the first monument in New South Wales to commemorate an Aboriginal person. Tom Doolin was Kameruka's Huntsman and Master of the Hounds, and was instrumental in the property's early success.
Notes:
