A Heart for Community:
Connect with the heart and soul of a vibrant community. Whether you're meeting friendly locals, encountering heirloom cultures, engaging with Native peoples, exploring hidden corners, or discovering beloved eateries, let lasting memories begin with warmth, hospitality, and genuine connection.
Experience world-acclaimed wildlife from land and sea, beginning with a cruise aboard the catamaran Albatross Express. Cruise Otago Harbour past the Aramoana sandspit, the Mole, and Taiaroa Head with its historic lighthouse.
Step ashore at Weller's Rock and board a coach for a transfer to a private working farm owned by the Reid family. Nature's Wonders is a self-funded conservation effort to ensure that the Reids' land is preserved for future generations to enjoy penguins, fur seals and other wildlife. An eight-wheel-drive vehicle, known as an Argo, offers a scenic off-road journey to places other vehicles would find difficult to access.
Highlights include seeing some of the Otago Peninsula's most spectacular wildlife inhabitants -- New Zealand fur seals that live on the rocks, and the sea lions that are naturally sand dwellers. Blue penguins sometimes emerge from their burrows.
Halfway through the tour, your group will switch to touring by four-wheel-drive coaster bus.
Notes:
The Argo ride carries six guests, and the approximately 15-minute ride is across open countryside, involving some steep and bumpy off-road driving. Guests who are pregnant or have a back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Tour sequence may vary.
