From the base of the Kuranda Ranges, experience the breathtaking ascent from Cairns to Kuranda aboard the Skyrail Rain Forest Cableway. The skyrail is among the most popular visitor activities in North Queensland and has won many eco-tourism and sustainability awards for its unique way of offering visitors views of the UNESCO World Heritage Site rain forest.
Travel high above the rain forest canopy aboard a six-passenger gondola, taking in spectacular views of the jungle below and of the surrounding region, along with the sparkling North Queensland coast out to the Coral Sea and Green Island.
The journey up the mountain includes a stop at the Rainforest Interpretive Centre and Red Peak Station, and concludes at the lovely rain forest village of Kuranda. Enjoy free time exploring the village, home to a colorful, vibrant community of artists and artisans.
Continue into the laid-back, tropical city of Cairns as your guide provides you with a history of the area on your way back to the ship.
Notes:
Skyrail cable cars are not air-conditioned and may not be exclusive to Holland America Line guests. Guests with a fear of heights or who suffer from vertigo or claustrophobia should assess their ability to participate. Order of sights may vary on the day. Kuranda Markets do not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays.
