Travel into the heart of Tasmania's north to the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, a magnificent wilderness of pristine forest and glacial lakes.
The winding road leads to the National Park -- an alpine wilderness and wonderland. This park is one of the most popular in Tasmania, yet still retains its wild, isolated character.
Visit the National Park Interpretive Centre, where you'll board a small coaster vehicle for an informative journey to Dove Lake -- the jewel in the crown. On a clear day, the views of the lake, framed by the magnificent Cradle Mountain, are simply breathtaking. Immerse yourself in the scents and sounds of the mountain with a brisk stroll along a section of the boardwalk that encircles the lake.
A delicious lunch is served at a local hotel during the day.
As you head back towards Burnie, your route takes you via Sheffield, the Town of Murals. Local artists have painted stories of the Kentish district on the old buildings.
Return to the pier, having witnessed the rugged natural beauty of the Tasmanian wilderness.
