This scenic panoramic drive through Broome is perfect for those who like to see the sights with little walking required.
Watch for the old jail, the revitalized Chinatown, Captain Gregory's House, and the Pearl Luggers Museum, housing artifacts and memorabilia from Broome's heyday as a pearling port.
Pretty Mangrove Bay, with its picture-perfect greenery, white sand, and turquoise water, offers a view that's hard to beat.
A brief stop at the Japanese Cemetery is a poignant reminder of the dangers of pearling -- more than 900 Japanese divers are buried here among headstones crafted from colorful sandstone.
Pioneer Park overlooks Broome's original jetty, used by pearl luggers in the early 20th century. It's also the site of a Japanese World War II air attack in 1942. Many of Broome's early settlers are buried in nearby Pioneer Cemetery.
The Broome Historical Museum showcases Broome's history as a major pearling port. Also on display are Aboriginal artifacts and an extensive collection of beautiful shells. Visit on your own time before or after your tour.
