Begin your tour with a transfer from the Waitangi pier to the Puketi Kauri Forest Nature Trail.
Join your guide for a one-hour informative walk that leads you through a subtropical rain forest, alive with rich flora, fauna and colonial and Maori history. If they could talk, the ancient kauri trees would whisper tales of a millennium of standing sentinel over the abundant forest that seems to be bursting with wildlife.
Keep an eye out for New Zealand's unique plants and noisy birdlife.
The highlight of your walk will be standing on a viewing platform set among a grove of magnificent kauri trees, some of which are up to 1,200 years old.
