Explore Auckland’s countryside, where art meets winemaking and a gastronomy that will move your sense.
Tour starts by picking you up from Auckland wharf and taking you to Matakana.
Matakana is a small village North of Auckland. Settled in the 1840’s Matakana has a proud history and strong sense of community. The picturesque Matakana wine region is home to over 30 boutique vineyards, olive groves, restaurants and the famous Farmers’ Market on a Sunday.
Here you will visit the amazing Brick Bay, a sustainably accredited 4.5 hectare vineyard flanked by native bush and featuring a Sculpture Trail. Discover a dynamic exhibition of over 50 large-scale sculptures set in a sublime landscape of towering native trees, majestic palms, a precious kauri forest and lakes, all alive with native birdlife.
Enjoy a shared lunch Platter with wine tasting at the Glass House cantilevered over a shimmering lake, featuring the freshest seasonal cuisine inspired by our farm produce, orchards and gardens.
Next, we will visit Heron’s Flight Winery a small family-owned and operated vineyard. Heron’s Flight was established by David Hoskins and Mary Evans, if you keep an eye out, you might meet them in person.
For the past 35 years, Heron’s Flight has focused on planting Italian grapes that capture Italian life's essence, romance and simplicity.
Enjoy wine tasting of the Dolcetto red, Rosato and Volare Sangiovese while learning about Matakana wine and the Italian grapes variety.
Once you finish the tour, we will head back to Auckland wharf.
