Here's an immersive maritime experience in Port Adelaide -- South Australia's first heritage river precinct.
Aboard an enclosed boat, learn about the Port River's rich maritime history and visit the iconic Ships Graveyard. View the wreck of the Santiago, thought to be the oldest iron-hulled sailing ship in existence. Keep an eye out for the Port River dolphins -- among only a handful of wild dolphin populations living within a city.
In the vicinity of Garden Island, you'll likely see migratory shorebirds, including threatened species such as the curlew sandpiper. There's a significant Aboriginal history in this area, too.
Ashore, step inside the South Australian Maritime Museum, which takes a contemporary approach to interpreting the past.
Spend some free time in Port Adelaide on a leisurely stroll or find a bite to eat (at your own expense).
