Your day begins at an Udon noodle school, where you will participate in the process of kneading, rolling and cutting the noodle dough. You will be awarded a certificate and a rolling pin on completion of the class.
Visit the Kotohiragu Shrine, situated atop Mount Zozu. There are 785 stone steps up to the main shrine, but your coach will carry you past the first 500. From the shrine you will have a marvelous view of the surrounding plains.
On your way to lunch, stop at a Shoinden building to see Japanese wall art on a fusuma entrance. Lunch is served at a local Western-style restaurant.
Finally, en route back to the ship, stop for photos at Marugame Castle. This is one of only twelve castles remaining in Japan intact from the post-feudal age, which ended in 1868.
Notes:
Guests will have to take off their shoes when entering Shoinden building.
Guests can taste the Udon noodles after making them, however they will not be cooked individually. The noodles cannot be packed for take-away.
Guests can spend time shopping if do not wish to taste the noodles.
