This tour offers an interesting view of life outside the city and starts with a visit to the Tiong Bahru Wet Market to see the locals buy their daily groceries and vegetables.
Pass the Kranji Dam area -- once a swamp used as the first landing spot for Japanese Advance Boats during World War II. The Kranji War Memorial, unveiled in 1957, overlooks the Straits of Johore and is the final resting place for more than 20,000 Allied soldiers.
After lunch, visit the Bright Hill Temple, a famous place of Chinese ancestral worship.
The final loop of the tour will pass the Johore Battery, built by the British in 1939. Drive through Changi Village on the way back to the pier.
Notes:
This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Singapore. If the Tiong Bahru Wet Market is closed for washing, another market will be substituted. Modest attire is required for temple visits; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered; shorts and short skirts are not allowed. Tour sequence may vary. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Bring bottled water.
