Named after the former King, Sihanoukville is a bustling and lively port city and Cambodia's premier beach destination. It is home to some architecturally intriguing pagodas. Experience Sihanoukville's stunning coastline scenery and explore the visual feast that is Cambodia's capital on a panoramic drive past some of its highlights.
You'll see Independence Beach en route to Sihanoukville's most prominent religious landmark.
Continue to Sihanoukville's prettiest and 'noisiest' stretch of sand -- Sokha Beach -- whose silicon-like sand squeaks loudly underfoot. The tiny eastern end is open to the public. The Serendipity Beach area offers an array of rowdy bars and budget accommodation.
You'll pause at Ocheuteal Beach for great photos from the coach. Guests who wish to stay at the beach independently are welcome to leave the tour here but must make their own way back to the ship by shuttle or take a tuk-tuk to the city center and return to the ship at their own expense.
Next we will pass by the unashamedly garish Golden Lions traffic circle -- it's hard to look away!
A drive through Psar Leu -- the main market in Sihanoukville -- offers an unfiltered, authentic glimpse of a real, working Khmer market. Wander briefly among the stalls and perhaps purchase a traditional krama -- the colorful Cambodia headscarf worn by all Khmers.
Finally, view from the outside the colorful Intra Ngean Pagoda, which takes pride of place overlooking the town and seascape beyond.
