Visit Saikai National Park, located north of Nagasaki prefecture and noted for its beautiful coastline along the bay of Kujukushima (meaning 99 Islands). Dotted throughout the bay are many small islands, adding a curious beauty to this intricate coastline.
A 20-minute drive from Sasebo's port brings you to the heart of this natural wonderland, where you will take a boat cruise among the beautiful Kujukushima Islands. Four of them are inhabited islands. Your 50-minute cruise will show you 21 of the islands.
Then, head to Mt Yumihari for a spectacular view over Saikai National Park, which includes the Saikai Bridge and 99 Islands. A drive to the Saikai Bridge lets you see for yourself why it is well known for its views of tidal swirls -- a phenomenon created by current colliding in the narrow channel.
After this half day of natural wonders and beautiful scenery, you will return to the ship.
Notes:
The view of tidal swirls is tide / weather dependent.
