Visit the Nagasaki Museum of History & Culture -- an exceptional museum housing a collection of more than 80,000 artifacts and artwork. The museum explores the nationally-prominent theme of Japan's history of overseas exchanges. The permanent historical culture zone contains exhibits of valuable materials on exchanges with Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, China and Korea.
Another area contains a reconstruction of part of the Tateyama Government Branch of the Nagasaki Magistrate's Office. Two must-see exhibits are the crime notebooks from the Magistrate's Office and the macabre 'trample tablets' used in the persecution of Christians.
Nagasaki Peace Park and its famous statue are located only a few minutes' walk from the epicenter of the atomic bomb blast of August 9, 1945. The park is dedicated to World Peace, and here you will visit the Atomic Bomb Museum -- home to numerous photographs and relics of that fateful day.
