Seoraksan National Park is internationally recognized for its rare species and is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. More than 2,000 animal species live in Seoraksan, including the Korean goral, musk deer, and otters. There are also more than 1,400 rare plant species, including Edelweiss, here as well.
Set out on a hike in this beautiful area over the trail from Sinheungsa Temple to Heundeulbawi Rock. The path begins with a gentle rise up the valley and morphs into a dirt trail with uneven surfaces. The trail blends harmoniously with the granite rocks scattered about — a delightful opportunity to explore the enchanting nature of Korea.
Following the hike, enjoy a traditional Korean mountain snack experience. In Korea, it is customary for hikers to relax and socialize after a hike while enjoying simple local refreshments. Sample gamjajeon (Korean potato pancake) accompanied by makgeolli, a traditional Korean rice wine, as you unwind and reflect on your time in the mountains. This popular combination has long been enjoyed by hikers across Korea and offers a taste of the country's outdoor culture and culinary traditions.
