Visit a tranquil traditional garden known for its understated beauty and refined composition. Although modest in size, the Senda Residence Garden exemplifies the subtle elegance of Japanese outdoor design, incorporating carefully placed stones, greenery, and seasonal elements. The serene atmosphere reflects Kanazawa's distinctive aesthetic sensibility, emphasizing balance, restraint, and an appreciation for nature throughout the year.
Continue to the Nagamachi District, once home to many of Kanazawa's Samurai. Kaga was unlike other Japanese fiefdoms because its Samurai lived in Kanazawa town. The remains of the samurai houses can be seen today, along with a few surviving residences, earthen boundary walls, narrow lanes and canals.
The Ishikawa Prefecture History Museum presents local history from ancient times through the modern era using clear, engaging, and well-organized exhibits. Displays highlight the development of regional culture, daily life, craftsmanship, and historical events that shaped the area. Your visit provides a broader context and a deeper understanding of the region's cultural and historical background.
Notes:
