Start the tour by visiting Changdeok Palace after an approximately 1-hour ride from the ship. In the early 15th century, King Taejong ordered the construction of a new palace at an auspicious site. The palace consists of several official and residential buildings set in a garden that was cleverly adapted to the uneven topography. The result is an exceptional example of Far Eastern palace architecture and design, blending harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.
Though the palace has been treasured by Koreans for centuries, Changdeok Palace was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site by the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Committee in December of 1997. Spend approx. 60-mins in this palace while exploring all aspects of it.
Then partake in Korean culture with a cooking experience of the most culinary specialty of South Korea, "Pajeon - Korean Pancake". If you want to learn more about Korea's traditional foods, there is no better method than to try your hand at making the food yourself. You also get the chance to eat what you've made and have a taste of South Korean traditional food with Makgeolli, Korean traditional liquor.
After your cooking experience, visit Insadong, located in the heart of the city. Insadong Street is an important place where old but precious and traditional goods are on display. There is one main road in Insadong with alleys on each side. Within these alleys are galleries and traditional restaurants, teahouses, and cafes. At Insadong, you can take some time to relax with a cup of Korean tea.
Next, transfer to Gwangjang Market to try some Korean street food. Gwangjang Market is one of Korea's largest traditional markets with a history of over 100 years. It was the first permanently established market that was open every day. It’s one of those places that has not only withstood the test of time but has passed through many generations. Explore the market for approx. 50-mins to taste some awesome Korean street food.
The tour ends with an approximately One and half hour drive back to the ship.
