After a 90-minute drive from the port, your journey starts from the War Memorial of Korea, established to remember the Korean War (1950–53) and to symbolize the desire for peaceful reunification of Korea. This huge museum documents the history of the Korean War, using multimedia exhibits and black-and-white documentary footage, along with artifacts such as weapons, uniforms, and maps. Outside, a somber memorial walkway is inscribed with the names of every casualty from the Allied forces. Tanks, helicopters, planes and a replica of the patrol boat sunk by North Korean forces in 2002 remind you that the war remains unresolved.
After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Bongeunsa Temple, moved here from the Royal Tomb of King Seongjong. It houses 3,479 Buddhist scriptures.
From the top of the Seoul Sky Tower, 1,820 feet tall, take in a 360-degree panoramic view of the city. Its 118th-floor Sky Deck made the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest glass-floor observation deck in the world. The thrilling Sky Bridge tour lets you enjoy the view of Seoul right under your feet.
