Day 1 (D)
Begin your journey with a transfer to the airport in Phuket, where you will board your flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.
Delhi, the capital city of India, is divided into two distinct parts: Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi, the capital of Muslim India from the 17th to the 19th century, is home to a rich collection of mosques, monuments, and forts that reflect its historical significance.
New Delhi, on the other hand, was established by the British as the capital of India. In 1911, Edwin Lutyens, one of the most renowned English architects of the time, was commissioned to design this imperial city. New Delhi boasts an impressive array of monuments that showcase its conquests by the Mughals, Turks, Persians, and ultimately the British.
Lutyens' design includes some of the most striking landmarks in the city, such as a broad avenue lined with stately residences and lavish neoclassical buildings. This grand avenue leads up to the magnificent Presidential Palace and the Parliament buildings, creating a stunning visual experience.
After settling into your hotel, enjoy a delightful dinner served at the hotel, where you can relax and prepare for the exciting days ahead.
Day 2 (B, L, D)
After breakfast, proceed for a tour of New Delhi. Your first stop will be Humayun’s Tomb, the first significant example of Mughal architecture in India. This magnificent tomb, built in the mid-16th century, set the precedent for future Mughal architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at its grand structure, beautiful gardens, and intricate design that became the hallmark of the Mughal Dynasty.
Next, you will drive through the majestic boulevards of New Delhi, designed by the renowned architect Edwin Lutyens in the 1920s. Lutyens' vision for New Delhi included wide, tree-lined avenues and grand government buildings that reflect the city's imperial past. As you drive, you will see some of the most iconic landmarks, including the Parliament House and the Presidential Palace. These impressive structures showcase the blend of classical and Indian architectural styles, creating a unique and grandiose cityscape.
Following this enriching tour, you will proceed to a local hotel for a delicious lunch.After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport in Delhi to board your flight to Aurangabad. Upon arrival in Aurangabad, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to your hotel. Check-in and unwind after your journey.
In the evening, enjoy dinner at your hotel.
Day 3 (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you’ll will embar on a two-hour scenic drive to the renowned Ajanta Caves. These ancient caves, dating from 200 BC to 650 AD, are carved into the volcanic lavas of the Deccan Trap, nestled in a steep, crescent-shaped hillside within a forested ravine.
Upon arrival, you will be transported back in time as you explore these remarkable caves, which once housed over 200 monks, including artists, craftsmen, and labourers. The Ajanta Caves, also known as viharas, are celebrated for their exquisite murals that vividly depict the life of Buddha. These murals offer a glimpse into the royal court, ordinary family life, and bustling street scenes of the time. The detailed studies of animals and birds are particularly impressive, showcasing the artistic skill of the monks.
In some of the caves, the murals narrate the Buddha’s previous births, illustrating the progress of the soul through various incarnations. The intricate artwork and historical significance of these caves make them a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit destination.
After your exploration, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor the flavors of the region. Following lunch, you will return to your hotel, where you can relax and unwind after a day of discovery.

Day 4 (B, L, D)
After breakfast at your hotel, embark on a 50-minute drive to the renowned Ellora Caves. These caves, dating from 600 to 1100 AD, are considered among the finest examples of ancient rock-cut architecture in India. The Ellora Caves are situated along an ancient trading route and are believed to have been created by priests and pilgrims who traveled this path.
The complex consists of 34 caves, each showcasing a different religious tradition. Twelve of the caves are Buddhist, created between 600 and 800 AD, featuring intricate carvings and serene statues of Buddha. Seventeen caves are Hindu, dating from 600 to 900 AD, adorned with elaborate sculptures depicting various deities and mythological scenes. The remaining five caves are Jain, carved between 800 and 1100 AD, known for their detailed and delicate artwork.
The highlight of the Ellora Caves is the magnificent Kailasnatha temple, a masterpiece of ancient Indian architecture. This temple, carved out of 85,000 cubic meters of rock, is the most outstanding rock-cut structure at Ellora. It is unique in that it was begun from the top and worked downward, showcasing the extraordinary skill and imagination of the artisans who created it. The temple is completely open to the elements, allowing visitors to fully appreciate its grandeur.
After exploring the Ellora Caves, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Following lunch, embark on a 75-minute drive to visit Bibi ka Maqbara, also known as the "Taj Mahal of the Deccan." This beautiful mausoleum, located in Aurangabad, was commissioned in 1660 by Prince Azam Shah, the son of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, in memory of his mother, Dilras Banu Begum. The mausoleum's stunning architecture and serene surroundings make it a must-visit site.
Next, proceed to Panchakki, also known as the "Water Mill," a fascinating historical site in Aurangabad. This ingenious water mill, built in the 17th century, showcases the advanced engineering skills of the time and provides a glimpse into the region's rich history.
After your visit, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Delhi. Light snacks will be served on board the flight. Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be transferred to your hotel, where a delightful dinner will be served, allowing you to relax and reflect on the day's adventures.
Day 5 (B)
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to Delhi airport for your flight to Colombo. Relax and enjoy a light lunch served onboard the flight as you travel to your next destination. Upon arrival in Colombo, you will be greeted and assisted with your transfer to the pier to rejoin your Holland Ship.
Cancellation Policy:
60 Days prior to arrival in the excursion port. This excursion is non-refundable within 60 days of arrival into the excursion port. Any cancellations made after this deadline will be subject to full payment of the tour. This will include if a guest cancels their voyage within 60 days of arrival into the excursion port.
Notes:
This tour involves a high level of physical activity. Guests should be in good physical condition to participate. There will be significant walking and climbing involved. There will be walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs. Be prepared for high heat, humidity, and potential rain. The trails can become slippery in wet conditions. Sturdy, non-slip walking or hiking shoes are recommended. Light clothing, a long-sleeved shirt, and a hat for sun protection is also recommended, along with insect repellent & sunscreen. This tour is not suitable for individuals with mobility limitations, heart conditions, or respiratory issues. Guests should assess their physical condition before deciding to participate. Breathing devices:
There are stringent regulations regarding the transportation of breathing/respiratory devices for any purpose during tours or overland trips. Guests intending to bring such a device must notify the home office or shore excursion staff at least 30 days before the start of the tour. They are required to fill out the necessary FAA documentation, furnish a physician's authorized letter detailing the device's particular use, and provide information about the device. It is imperative to understand that each airline will conduct an inspection of the device before boarding to ensure compliance, which may result in delays at the airport.
