Your journey begins at the pier, where you'll board a motorcoach and drive through Hiroshima's suburbs and into its very heart.
You will see Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. Dedicated to the victims of the first atomic bomb, the park features a museum and powerful monuments. Brightly-colored paper cranes are everywhere -- a symbol of peace.
You'll stop at the Atomic Bomb Dome for photos. The old Industry Promotion Hall was one of the few buildings near Ground Zero to survive the blast, although its dome was vaporized. Today, its gutted walls and skeletal dome structure stand as mute icons -- powerful symbols of the destructive force of nuclear weapons.
Hiroshima Castle offers another photo opportunity, from your motorcoach (We will not be stopping at this site). Originally built in the late 16th century, it was destroyed by a firestorm following the atomic blast. Rebuilt in 1958, it now houses a museum depicting pre-war Japan and makes a fabulous photography subject.
Head back to the pier after your tour.
Notes:
This tour does not include the visit to the Peace Memorial Museum. The tour is specially designed for guests who prefer little walking contents; guests with wheelchairs are reminded that few steps are required to negotiate to board the coach.
