The presence of Eastern and Western merchants in Hoi An during the first half of the 19th century significantly influenced the architecture, culture and customs of this lovely community. Many remaining wooden buildings lend the town a distinctive charm. Take a step back in time during your guided walk through its narrow streets. Your visit to a traditional merchant’s house will reveal a unique mix of European, Japanese and Chinese styles. Enjoy some free time for exploring and shopping in the town. Lunch is served at a local restaurant with exquisitely subtle Vietnamese flavors. Before returning to the ship, you will pause at My Khe Beach. This was a favorite military recreation spot during the war and became world famous through the television series in the USA. It is also a great chance to see the beauty the Marble Mountains and a marble workshop operating right on the roadside.
