Explore this fascinating part of Vietnam, starting out by motorcoach through central Da Nang, where colonial-style buildings border shaded, tree-lined streets.
You will continue your journey to Hoi An, where the presence of Eastern and Western merchants has influenced the architecture, culture and customs of this community. Many of the wooden buildings date from the first half of the 19th century, so the town retains a distinctive charm. Step back in time on a guided walk through the narrow streets. A visit to a traditional merchant's house will reveal a unique mix of European, Japanese and Chinese styles, and you will see a short handicraft production demonstration.
Before returning to the ship, pause at My Khe Beach. This was a favorite military R&R spot during the war and a recreational hangout for American GIs.
