Vancouver is one of the world's incomparably naturally beautiful cities. Enjoy a scenic panoramic drive through the bustling downtown waterfront and residential districts en route to Stanley Park -- a magnificent thousand-acre rainforest in the downtown core.
Stanley Park boasts one of the largest urban forests in North America and is a premier Vancouver attraction. The West Coast climate supports an abundance of flora and fauna; a wonderful variety of wildlife calls this sanctuary home. At the eastern tip of Stanley Park is Brockton Point and its famed Native Totem Garden. Colorful, carved works of art stand proud and tall in commemoration of the First Nations that originally inhabited the area. Your knowledgeable guide will tell you the stories behind the totems.
Cross the Lions Gate Bridge to reach the mountainous North Shore. You will walk across the 160-foot-high Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, spanning an incredible gorge and waterfalls.
At the Capilano River Canyon, your eco-guide will walk you through the breathtaking rainforest surroundings. Learn about how trees collaborate and communicate to survive and how the forest makes us healthy and happy. You'll marvel at the area's diverse plant life and discover lichen, moss, ferns, and flowering plants, all growing under the mantle of some of the oldest and largest trees in BC.
View the Cleveland Dam from the base of the canyon -- it provides 30-40% of Vancouver's drinking water -- and learn about Pacific salmon at a hatchery and fish ladder.
Walk among giant cedars, towering Douglas firs and mature hemlock trees. Why was the western red cedar known as the Tree of Life to the First Nations people? Your guide has the answers. Learn the medicinal significance of the yew tree and how all the forest's inhabitants contribute to its delicate balance.
Enjoy a gourmet snack on the vehicle as you transfer to the ship in time for embarkation.
Notes:
This tour is available only to guests embarking the ship in Vancouver. The first pick-up point will be at the Fairmount Vancouver Hotel at the planned departure time. The second pick-up point will be at the Pan Pacific Hotel approximately 30 minutes later. If you are staying at another property, you must join the tour at either pick-up point; make your own arrangements to get to the listed hotel with all of your luggage (at your own expense) a minimum of 15 minutes prior to planned departure time, as the coach will not wait.
