Join this adventure to the famous Khutzeymateen Valley of the Grizzly. Board a boat and cruise north through Chatham Sound, hearing fascinating stories about the Native villages en route. Watch for porpoises, seals, sea lions, bald eagles and blue herons as you learn firsthand about this diverse marine environment.
Enter the rugged coastal mountains and pristine wilderness of the Khutzeymateen Valley, home to one of the highest concentrations of grizzly bears in North America. You may spot these legendary giants in their natural environment — a pleasurable and memorable wilderness experience without intruding on the bears' habitat. This is truly a photographer's paradise — a highlight of your vacation.
Notes:
Mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, etc) cannot be accommodated on the transportation. Tour requires approximately five minutes of walking between the cruise ship pier and Atlin Dock. Terrain includes a marine ramp from the pier to the boat, which can be very steep at low tide. Staff and crew will help to the best of their ability with guests needing assistance down the ramp and boarding the vessel. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Wear sturdy non-skid shoes. Snacks and beverages, including beer and wine, are available at the kiosk on board the vessel (at your own expense). Guests prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
