Explore the ancient ice floes of the Stikine LeConte Wilderness area -- a true outback experience.
The Chutine Warrior and the Alpine Warrior are river-capable jet boats with an on-board marine restroom. They also feature heated cabins and large windows for viewing, and a spacious back deck, tables and a galley -- ideal vessels for a scenic jet-boat ride through the pristine wilderness. Your Alaskan guides create an exceptional tour experience, sharing the geology and natural history of the area while ensuring your comfort each step of the way.
Depending on the tides, you will make your way to Le Conte Glacier or Shakes Glacier. Step onto the back deck to breathe in the crisp glacial air and immerse yourself in the nature that surrounds you.
You'll cruise through iceberg-studded waters on your way to the face of the glacier and listen and watch for chunks of ice calving from its face. This encounter with nature is quite mesmerizing.
Inside, warm up and indulge in hors d'oeuvres featuring wild Alaskan smoked salmon with still and sparkling wines.
Notes:
Minimum age is 8 years. Minimum height is 3'0". Maximum weight is 300 lbs. Not suitable for guests with back conditions. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Access to the face of the glacier face depends on ice conditions; calving may be seen but is not guaranteed. To (dis)embark the vessel, participants must walk up/down a ramp, which may be steep, depending upon the tide. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf.
