See the wild side of Alaska like never before on a special combination of wildlife viewing experience and the award-winning Sea Otter & Wildlife Quest.
Your adventure begins with a narrated drive along a winding coastal road to Silver Bay's Fortress of the Bear rescue facility. Up-close brown (grizzly) bear viewing in a created habitat is emphasized here as you learn of one Alaskan family's dream of offering an alternative for bears caught in conflict with their human neighbors. Marvel at the ingenuity of reusing an abandoned wood pulp mill site to create a home for these incredible animals.
Back aboard your deluxe motorcoach, the journey continues as your driver/guide explains the dynamic living culture of today's Alaskans and how the original inhabitants of Southeast Alaska, both human and animal, have thrived here for thousands of years.
You'll cap off this exploration with a trip to the wild side when you embark a boat to set off on the Sea Otter & Wildlife Quest. Sea otters, whales, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, brown bears, Sitka black-tail deer and a variety of marine birds may be observed in their natural habitat.
Each tour is unique, with an onboard naturalist and skilled captain providing a genuinely Alaskan experience.
Notes:
The tour operator guarantees you will see an otter, a whale, or a bear. If not, you'll receive a US $100 cash refund at the end of the voyage. Electric scooters cannot be accommodated. Dress warmly in layers with a wind- and waterproof outer layer; bring gloves, a scarf and a warm hat.
