Your day out in Haines begins with a 45-minute catamaran ride from Skagway. Along the way, the knowledgeable naturalist on board points out wildlife and talks about the geography, history and people of Southeast Alaska.
On arrival in Haines, meet up with your guide, board the transportation, and explore some of the town. A scenic drive out of town takes you past Lutak Inlet and into the Chilkoot River Valley for incredible wildlife viewing. Brown bears, eagles, mountain goats, and spawning salmon are commonly sighted.
On the shores of Chilkoot Lake, step into a Voyager canoe -- a stable, comfortable and quiet craft, perfect for observing nature's splendor. This motor-assisted canoe resembles those used by trappers and gold miners at the turn of the 20th century.
Paddle across Chilkoot Lake with about 1.5 hours out on the water, exploring inlets, coves, salmon spawning streams and numerous waterfalls.
Return to Haines for a picnic-style lunch at a beach location and return to Skagway on the fast ferry.
