A 30-minute tour of Skagway, including the Gold Rush Cemetery, kicks off this fascinating glimpse of a bygone era when rough-and-ready characters roamed the streets, and Paradise Alley was anything but the highway to heaven its name implies.
You're headed to the Historic Skagway Inn, located on Paradise Alley -- the largest brothel in Skagway during the Gold Rush era. The inn is the perfect backdrop for this highly entertaining, hands-on tour. Step into the Saloon Dining Room to meet costumed characters from the past. They'll treat you to their own colorful 'biographies,' as well as stories and songs from the Gold Rush.
You'll learn to make a classic stampeder libation (with or without alcohol) -- a beverage that warmed the hearts of the prospectors, both lucky and downtrodden -- using ingredients straight from the inn's kitchen garden. Enjoy a hearty meal of chicken pot pie or vegetarian stew.
Hear stories of the Great Stampede of 1897 and finish with a Prohibition-era Shrub and Iceworm toast to your induction into the Order of the Sourdough.
Leave with a signature saloon glass, drinks recipes, and a host of wonderful memories as you return to the ship.
