Travel along a wonderfully scenic highway to the historical George Inlet Lodge. The road to the lodge winds through the wilds of Revillagigedo Island and passes an old sawmill and several salmon canneries -- a glimpse into the area’s illustrious past.
At the waterfront lodge, originally a cannery bunkhouse, your attention turns to fabulous food -- specifically to seafood caught in the chilly depths of the surrounding sea. A talented chef demonstrates how to prepare delicious crab cakes while sharing entertaining stories about Alaska fishing and crabbing, and the history of the lodge.
Your wonderful meal begins with a garden-fresh salad appetizer. Then, dig into a steaming half Dungeness crab to enjoy the pure taste of this ocean-fresh delicacy. Next up, it’s three crab cakes hot off the griddle, prepared to the Lodge’s own recipe. Finally, enjoy a slice of creamy cheesecake topped with plump blueberries -- another Alaskan specialty -- for dessert.
Notes:
Terrain at the lodge includes 79 steps; a shuttle is available for those not able to climb the stairs; participants must be able to climb three steps to (dis)embark the coach. The crab cakes contain gluten, eggs and mayonnaise. Non-seafood and vegetarian options are available.
