When you visit Southeast Alaska, combine the thrill of a helicopter flightseeing tour with a glacier dog sled camp, and you’ll have an unforgettable experience.
Listen to a safety briefing and gear up with glacier boots; then, fly over lush rain forest, deep blue crevasses and glacier-carved peaks as your pilot gives you a spectacular flightseeing tour to the dogsled camp on Mendenhall Glacier.
Professional mushers will have you help drive the team or relax in the sled as you take in the awe-inspiring scenery of the glacier’s surface. You will have time to talk with the mushers or take pictures with the dogs before your helicopter takes you back to the base and civilization. This is a must-do, totally memorable Alaskan activity.
Notes:
Tour can be canceled without penalty on the day your voyage commences. Cancellations thereafter are non-refundable. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Glacier boots are provided. Time spent on the glacier is approximate and may vary due to weather and ice conditions. All timings are approximate. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. Guests weighing 250 lbs or more (fully clothed) pay an additional surcharge over the published fare directly to the tour operator just prior to the flight. Every guest is weighed at check-in. The tour operator endeavors to be discreet, but individual circumstances may not allow for complete privacy. The pilot alone decides if weather conditions are suitable for flightseeing. If the flight is canceled due to weather conditions, you will receive a full refund. The pilot decides where each guest sits based on weight and balance requirements. Bags cannot be taken on the flight; a secure location is provided for storing personal items. iPads, iPad minis, tablets, drones, and selfie sticks or other extendable items are not permitted. For optimal photography and views, wear darker-colored clothing to reduce window reflections. Participants must be able to take two 18-inch steps into and out of the helicopter and walk approximately 100 yards. Employees can give a helping hand into and out of the helicopters but are not allowed to lift or carry a guest. Service animals are not allowed on the aircraft. Children up to and including the day prior to their second birthday can be added (at no cost) to the parent’s weight if seated on the parent’s lap (maximum weight remains at 250 lbs); each child aged 2 years or older is required by the FAA to occupy a paid seat.
