With your naturalist guide, cruise to Gull Island via water taxi to check out the spectacle of more than 10,000 nesting birds, including black-legged kittiwakes, common murres, and puffins.
From the Glacier Spit trailhead, hike up to gorgeous Glacier Lake, learning all about the fascinating glaciology of Kachemak Bay as you go. There will be a geological mystery to solve while you enjoy a boxed lunch and a hot drink.
Notes: This hike is very strenuous; suitable only for guests who feel comfortable hiking up to five miles without assistance. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, inclines, dirt, gravel, roots, rocks, and many steps. A boxed lunch is provided. Wear comfortable closed-toe hiking shoes. Dress warmly in layered clothing with a hat; outer layer should be windproof and waterproof. Bring a backpack to stow any layers you shed. Maximum weight is 300 lbs. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
