Your cruise fare is your base price, and taxes and surcharges are additional amounts tied to government, port, and security-related charges. These may change outside Holland America Line’s control.
Cruise fare
Your cruise fare is the core cost of your voyage, the starting point you see when selecting a sailing, stateroom, and occupancy. It is the foundation for your booking total, and it is the piece you can compare across sailings when you are weighing dates, ships, and itineraries.
Taxes, fees, and charges
In addition to your cruise fare, you will be charged an amount for Taxes. For Holland America Line, “Taxes” refers to certain additional costs imposed by governmental or quasi-governmental authorities, including port authorities, relating to any aspect of your cruise or tour.
Sometimes these amounts are subject to change. If governmental action results in any element of Taxes exceeding the estimates used by Holland America Line for purposes of computing the quoted amount, Holland America Line reserves the right to pass through the additional amount.
Security surcharges and similar incidental surcharges
Holland America Line also reserves the right to impose or pass through security surcharges or similar incidental surcharges. In these circumstances, no right of cancellation exists based on those changes.
What about pricing errors?
If a published price is determined to be incorrect, Holland America Line may cancel the booking and, if your card was charged, will credit back the incorrect amount.
Holland America Line reserves the right not to honor any published prices that it determines were erroneous due to printing, electronic, or clerical error. That means Holland America Line may refuse or cancel any bookings made at an incorrect price, whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged.
