Explore some of Korea's most significant historical and cultural landmarks, combining a visit to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) with an introduction to the history of the Korean War. The DMZ, established in 1953, is the heavily fortified border that separates North and South Korea. It stretches approximately 155 miles (250 km) across the Korean Peninsula and demarcates one of the most assiduously guarded borders in the world.
Your journey begins with a comfortable 90-minute drive from the pier in Incheon to the Paju DMZ area. Explore the Third Infiltration Tunnel, allegedly constructed by North Korea — a secret underground passage discovered in 1978. The nearby Dora Observatory offers views across the border into North Korea.
After lunch at a local restaurant, head to the Incheon Landing Operation Memorial Hall. The memorial commemorates General Douglas MacArthur's successful Incheon Landing in 1950 — a pivotal military operation that changed the course of the Korean Conflict. Exhibits, artifacts and photographs illustrate the planning and execution of the operation.
Rejoin the ship with a deeper understanding of Korea's history, resilience, and journey toward peace.
Notes:
You must bring your passport on tour. Booking name, gender, and date of birth must match your passport. Photography is not permitted within the DMZ area. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, inclines, gravel, grass, dirt, many steps, and a long, narrow underground tunnel with steep inclines and low ceilings in some areas; not advisable for guests with claustrophobia. Tour requires strenuous physical exertion. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking. Tour does not operate on Mondays.
