This outstanding wilderness expedition takes you through fjords, rainforests, colorful wildflowers, and towering mountain scenery to the spectacular Davidson Glacier.
Your adventure begins with a 70-minute journey through North America's deepest fjord aboard a high-speed 26-passenger expedition boat. Watch for whales, seals, sea lions, and cascading waterfalls along the way to a remote beach at Glacier Point -- one of the most beautiful places in Alaska. After a short, adventurous drive along the forested glacial moraines and a quarter-mile walk, the forest suddenly opens to a breathtaking view of the glacier.
The brilliant blue ice tumbles from the jagged peaks into a pristine lake, where a 31-foot voyager canoe waits to take you to the very face of the glacier. Throughout your tour, expert guides share their extensive knowledge of this fantastic area. Conditions permitting, your tour may include a walk to get a closer view of the glacier. This is an optional .5-mile hike over a sand and pebble beach.
A picnic lunch at the beach, amid fields of wild strawberries and irises, tops off your Glacier Point adventure.
Notes:
Minimum age is 7 years. Participants must be in good general health and able to hike over uneven terrain. Dress warmly in layers; wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. Guests who are pregnant are not allowed to participate. Minimum weight is 50 lbs; maximum weight is 350 lbs. The canoe's proximity to the glacier is determined by the water level and glacier conditions on the day.
